When you think about painting do you think about something like this? uses popular American cartoon clips to expose an often cited exclusivity of contemporary art. By working with a historically accessible mode of pop culture, Ana Jovanovska pokes fun at this exclusivity by revealing the tongue-in-cheek way “low” culture—both the audience and cartoonists—interpret and critique art.

Ana Jovanovska received her BFA in Graphic Arts and Graphic Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts- Skopje – University St Cyril and Methodius, Macedonia, 2014. Upon receiving a scholarship for a semester she attended École supérieure d’arts & médias de Caen/Cherbourg in France, 2013-2014. She received her MFA in the Graphic Art Field from the Faculty of Fine Arts Skopje – University St Cyril and Methodius, Macedonia, 2016. Ana had nine independent and more than 150 group exhibitions in Macedonia and various countries abroad.
