In his video piece, Promise Burden Prompt Origin Defense Palette Call (2022), Damon Pham invites the viewer into the inner workings of his mind. Using the simple concept of screen recording to the extreme, Pham incorporates conflicting media, rambling audio, and fragmented sentences to represent the scattered and overlapping trains of thought that often come with introspection. As the viewer pushes past the disorientation of being immersed in someone else’s head, they are rewarded with the intimacy that comes with such personal work.
