Missed Connections is a sound piece featured at Third Practice Electroacoustic Festival at The University of Richmond, 2015. The piece consists of samples of the composer’s voice reading from the missed connections section of Craigslist for Richmond, VA. By the appropriation of sounds and words, the piece evokes the humor, subversiveness, and yearning that is expressed through platforms in the digital realm. Making this work was an experiment of cutting up samples, splicing words and sounds, transposing sounds, overlapping sentences and phrases, and putting emphasis on certain words and phrases to find strange moments within the endless narrative of missed connections.
