POV: Scratching compact discs of sentimental value (2025), investigates human relationships with the outmoded medium of CDs via their digital and tangible properties. Gallego scratches discs that hold personal, sentimental value, developing a contrast between the CDs as a source of art versus, as the artist notes, “nostalgia” and “commodity”.

Miguel Gallego is a New York-based artist working predominantly with sound, video, and language. He is interested in signal and noise as a crucial site of ideological and technological contestation in contemporary life. He is currently pursuing an MFA at Columbia University’s Sound Art program.
